Ranunculus
How to Propagate
and Grow Successfully


Ranunculus originate from many temperate regions around the world.

They are a genus of perennial tuberous or rhizamatous spring and summer flowering gardening plants with a species of some four hundred.

Leaves are mid green to green and vary in shape depending on species from linear to basal to ovate to pinnate.

Flowers are yellow, pink, red, white or orange.

Flower shapes are buttercup or multi petalled similar to a rose.

Species: Glacialis.

Common Names: Buttercup, celandine.

Classification: Tuber.

Height: 25cm (10inches).

Flowering: Throughout spring and into early summer.


Where to grow info

Buttercup is an ideal gardening plant for many settings and, depending on the species, are perfect ground cover plants, or taller varieties look excellent in mixed borders and beds.

Where: Grow them in spring flowering borders or beds.

Site: Buttercup prefer full sun they thrive in it.

Some species of buttercup can be invasive so you will need to maintain it or cut it back hard.

Soil: Any rich and very free draining soil.
