Lunaria
How to Propagate
and Grow Successfully

Lunaria originate from Eurasia and are a genus of biennial and perennial flowering gardening plants.

Leaves are large, oval and mid to darkish green.

Flowers are attractive, white, purple, pink or bi-coloured and are formed on hairy stems.

Flowers have a lovely fragrance.

Flowers produce attractive silver flat seed pods which are used extensively as a dried flower by many florists.

Where to plant info

Lunaria are a must have gardening plant with their attractive flowers and seed pods.

They are one of the first gardening plants to flower in spring, making them a welcome sight after a long dark, cold winter.

Where: Ideal for borders and beds.

Site: They prefer full sun, they thrive in it!

They will also do well in partial shade.

Butterflies are attracted to this gardening plant.

Soil: Any rich and free draining soil.

They self seed profusely, so you can lift the seedlings in spring and grow them on in pots and plant them out the following year.

Or you can leave them to grow on where they self seed, making sure to be careful with your weeding so you don’t pull them up
