Hyacinthoides
How to Propagate
and Grow Successfully

Hyacinthoides originate from Europe and West Africa and are a genus of perennial spring flowering bulb gardening plants.

Leaves are strap like, linear and semi erect.

Flowers form on arching stems and are bell like. Colours are blue, pink or white.

Species: Italica.

Common Names: Bluebell.

Classification: Bulb.

Height: 20cm (8inches).

Flowering: Throughout spring.


Where to plant info

Bluebell are a common gardening plant for spring flowering beds and borders and will mix well with other bed and border gardening plants.

Some will flower right through to mid summer.

Where: Grow hyacinthoides in spring flowering borders or beds.

They are ideal for growing in rock gardens.

They are best grown in large groups or swathes in grass under trees or shrubs.

Bluebell are ideal for growing in wildlife gardens.

Site: Bluebell prefer partial shade.

Soil: Any rich, moist but free draining soil.
