Eucomis originates from South Africa and are a genus of perennial bulbous summer flowering gardening plants.

Leaves are lax or semi-erect, mid to dark green with a brownish underside

Leaves are lance shape with wavy or straight edges.

Flowers are a star bell shape borne in racemes coloured white, light green or pink.

Where to plant info

Eucomis are an easy to grow gardening plant and with their unusual pineapple like flowers make a central focal point when planted in patio pots and tubs.

Where: Grow them at the back of summer flowering borders or beds.

Site: They prefer full sun, they thrive in it!

The make a good, long lasting, cut flower.

Soil: Any free draining but moisture retentive soil.

Propagation info By fresh seed in autumn, fall.

Keep frost free over winter and in good light.

Seedlings grow rapidly and will need regular repotting.
