Erigeron
How to Propagate
and Grow Successfully


Erigeron originate from North America and are a genus of, mostly clump forming, flowering perennial gardening plants.

There are around two hundred species within the genus.

Leaves can be short, hairy and spoon shape or narrow oval and long.

Flowers are daisy like and are single or semi-double which grow in abundance.

They also have a long flowering period.

Family: Asteraceae/Compositae

Species: Karvinskianus

Common Names: Fleabane, Bonytip Fleabane.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 30cm (12inches).

Flowering: From spring through summer.


Where to plant info

Erigeron are an undemanding yet colourful and extremely useful garden plant.

Where: Ideal for herbaceous borders and as general bedding plants.

They make ideal cut flowers.

Site: They prefer full sun, they thrive in it!

Soil: Any moist but free draining soil.


Propagation info By seed in spring.

Best germination temperature: 70 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: slow and unpredictable, three months onwards.
