Crinum
How to Propagate
and Grow Successfully

Crinum originate from the tropical regions of Asia and are a perennial bulbous summer and autumn (fall) flowering gardening plant.

Leaves are long, arching and strap like, light to mid green.

Flowers are funnel to trumpet shape and borne on umbels.

Flower colours are white or shades of pink or red.

All flowers are delicately scented.

They need protection from frost and in colder areas with severe and long periods of frost they are best grown in containers.

In areas with short winters and without severe frosts mulch the bulbs with bark, straw or similar suitable material.

Where to plant info

Crinum are an easy to grow gardening plant but need protection from frost. They will mix well in your beds and borders.

Where: Grow them in any summer flowering border or bed.

They will also perform well in patio tubs and pots.

Site: They prefer full sun, they thrive in it!

They do best sheltered from cold winds.

Protection from frost is required.

Soil: Any rich and free draining soil.
