How to Propagate
and Grow Successfully


Cortaderia originate from South America and are a genus of clump forming perennial gardening plants.

Leaves are long and narrow which are very sharp.

Flowers in plumes of erect silvery panicles.

Flowers of female plants are more elaborate with their silky delicate plumes.

These are exceptionally good plants for larger gardens, especially when used as a focal plant.

Common Names: Pampas grass.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 1.5m (5foot).

Flowering: From summer through to autumn.


Where to plant info

Pampas grass are a must for larger gardens where they have room to show off their magnificent silvery plumes.

Where: They should be planted as a specimen plant for everyone to see!

Site: They prefer full sun.

Pampas grass will benefit from a position which is sheltered from strong cold winds.

Soil: Any rich and free draining soil.

Best germination temperature: 72 deg F.
