How to Propagate
and Grow Successfully


Chrysanthemum originate from China and Japan and are a genus of perennial flowering gardening plants.

There are over two hundred species within the genus.

Leaves are lobed and feathery, oval to lance shape.

Flowers are single and daisy like and are produced throughout summer and into autumn, fall.

Flower colours range from white, yellow, pink, mauve, lilac and in many shades of each colour.

To encourage larger flowers remove any small buds as they appear.

Where to plant info

Chrysanthemum are grown mainly for their flowers and they will enhance any garden planting arrangement.

Where: Ideal for borders and as general bedding plants.

They make ideal cut flowers.

Site: Chrysanthemum prefer full sun, they thrive in it!

Soil: Any free draining soil.


Propagation info By seed in autumn, fall.

Best germination temperature: 68 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: 10 weeks onwards.
