Canna
How to Propagate
and Grow Successfully

Canna originate from South America and are a genus of rhizomatous perennial summer and auyumn (fall) flowering gardening plants.

Leaves are large and broad, light green to dark green.

Flowers are similar to Iris and form in racemes, colours range from white, yellow, red, pink to orange.

There are also bi-coloured, and speckled flowered cultivars.

Where to plant info

Canna are available in many different sizes from dwarf to the 3m (120inch) varieties. Cultivars are more widely available than species forms as they are more varied and perform better.

With their diverse shapes, sizes and colours you should be able to grow these versatile plants in many of your garden settings.

Where: Grow cannas at the back of borders.

They are perfect for growing on their own as specimen plants or as a focal plant.

Site: They prefer full sun, they thrive in it!

They do best sheltered from winds.

Soil: Any rich and free draining soil.
