Begonia originate from tropical areas of Asia, Africa and America and are a genus of summer and autumn (fall) flowering perennials and annuals.
There are over nine hundred species within the genius.
They are divided into three main groups, rhizomatous which produce mainly foliage, fibrous rooted and tuberous rooted which are grown mainly for their flowers.
Leaves vary in shape and can be oval, maple or ovate.
Leaf colours are light green, dark green or bronze and can be glossy, waxy and have hairy edges.
Flowers are single or double, and range in sizes from tiny formed in cymes to solitary up to 30cm (12inches) diameter.
Flower colours range from pink, red, white, cream, bronze to yellow.
Some species have scented flowers.

Site: Begonia prefer full sun, they thrive in it! They will also do well in partial shade.
Soil: Any rich, moisture retentive but free draining soil.
