Babiana
How to Propagate
and Grow Successfully

Babiana originate from South Africa and are a genus of perennial spring flowering corm gardening plants.

Leaves are ribbed, sword like and light to mid green.

Flowers are yellow, pink, red or blue and are flute or cup shaped and some are fragrant.

Common Names: Babiana.

Classification: Corm.

Height: 20cm (8inches).

Flowering: Spring through early summer.


Where to plant info

These are handsome gardening plants and although not very common they deserve to be searched for as they make a striking effect in any spring flowering bed or border.

Where: They are best grown at the front of spring flowering borders or beds.

They make a real nice addition to any rock garden.

Grow them in patio tubs and pots and window boxes for an exciting spring display.

Site: They prefer full sun.

Soil: Any rich, moist but very free draining soil.
